Clinical utility analysis of the Hoxb8 mast cell activation test for the diagnosis of peanut allergy

Recent publication

Peanut allergies are not only common, but often particularly dangerous. An accurate diagnosis is important for those affected and their families in order to be able to deal with the allergy safely. A current study, in which Prim. Assoc. Prof. PD Dr Thomas Eiwegger is significantly involved, is investigating the so-called Hoxb8 mast cell activation test (Hoxb8 MAT for short) - a new approach that aims to make the diagnosis of peanut allergies more precise and safer. The special feature of this test is its high accuracy of over 90 %. It even provides clear results for samples where conventional methods such as skin tests or blood tests often produce unclear findings. The article was published open access in the journal ‘Allergy: European Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology’.
