Association Between Age and PCI Effectiveness in Stable CAD : Secondary Analysis of ORBITA-2

Recent Publication

A recent analysis of the ORBITA-2 study investigated whether age influences the benefit of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in stable coronary heart disease. The analysis shows that PCI reliably reduces angina symptoms in all age groups - with particularly significant symptom relief in older patients. At the same time, the duration of exercise on the treadmill improved, especially in younger patients, while this effect was significantly less pronounced in older patients. The results provide important impetus for the planning of future cardiological studies. Dr Florentina Simader BSc from the Division of Internal Medicine III at University Hospital St. Pölten played a key role in this study.
