Are anxiously attached dating app users less successful and feeling worse after use? The moderating role of perceived anonymity affordance

Recent publication

The research by Junwen M. Hu and Dr Marina F. Thomas shows that people with high commitment anxiety are less successful on dating apps and feel worse about themselves as a result. One interesting aspect is the perceived anonymity on the platforms: Those who feel more anonymous suffer less from the negative consequences of their commitment anxiety. The study makes it clear that the design of apps plays a decisive role in the well-being of their users.
