Apply AI: Piloting AI-based image screening in medical centres

A new call in the Digital Europe Programme is funding projects that test AI-supported analysis of medical image data directly in everyday clinical practice, particularly in the areas of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The focus is not on the development of new algorithms, but on the scalable implementation, integration and validation of existing trustworthy AI systems in real-life care situations. In addition to technical and clinical performance, cost-benefit aspects and the involvement of doctors will also be systematically analysed. The submission deadline is 1 October 2026.

- Strategic advice on the project application and any issues relating to your research project
- Searching for suitable cooperation partners
- Assistance with developing your ideas and proposal checking
- Assistance with meeting the requirements of the funding guidelines and internal KL guidelines
- Administrative support with obtaining approval for research projects from the KL rector’s office
