AI-Ageing Assemblages: Multiplicity, Power, and Boundaries in the Co-Constitution of Ageing and Artificial Intelligence

Recent Publication

In a new publication, Assistant Professor Dr Vera Gallistl BA MA and Roger von Laufenberg examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing our understanding of ageing. Instead of seeing AI merely as a useful tool that improves the everyday lives of older people, the researchers shed light on the hidden power dynamics behind it. Their analysis shows that in AI development, older people are often reduced to data that can be collected and commercialised. The development of AI technologies also narrows the idea of what the future could look like for older people to purely technological solutions.
