Eine internationale Studie mit über 26.000 Patient:innen hat untersucht, wie Körpergewicht und BMI das Risiko für Schlaganfälle, Blutungen und Todesfälle bei Vorhofflimmern beeinflussen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen: Sowohl sehr niedriges als auch sehr hohes Gewicht können das Risiko erhöhen. Besonders auffällig war ein U-förmiger Zusammenhang – also mehr Probleme bei sehr niedrigem oder sehr hohem BMI.
