Established in 2013, Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences (KL) is part of a wider academic and research community based at Campus Krems, and of a network comprising teaching hospitals in St. Pölten, Krems and Tulln. The university offers degree programmes in Human Medicine, Psychotherapy and Counselling Sciences, and Psychology – all of which are significant aspects of health policy. The programmes are tailored to the requirements of the Bologna model, opening the door to new, cutting-edge health professions. KL is committed to raising its profile in specific areas of biomedicine and biopsychosocial sciences by entering into strategic academic and research partnerships with other institutions.

The university is looking to fill the following professorship at the earliest possible opportunity:

Pharmacology

Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences is looking to appoint an individual whose work complements the university’s research focuses (musculoskeletal biomechanics, circulation and inflammation, water and health, and psychology) and will drive advances in these areas. The successful applicant will have a professional track record that qualifies them to head up teaching and research activities in the field of pharmacology, and to establish these activities in accordance with the organisational and didactic requirements of the new, fully integrated, two-stage medical curriculum. Applicants will also be willing and able to give courses at all levels of the curriculum (bachelor, master and PhD), supervise students’ theses and papers, and support up-and-coming academics.

The criteria for selection are:

  1. Training in pharmacology or equivalent qualification
  2. PhD or equivalent professional qualification
  3. Excellent teaching credentials
  4. Strong record in international research
  5. Management experience and leadership skills
  6. Skills in gender mainstreaming
